New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) Peter Pellegrini, the President of the Slovak Republic, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, praising the "exceptionally well-organised" India AI Impact Summit 2026. He characterized his encounter with PM Modi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi as a "historic milestone" for the relations between Slovakia and India.
The two leaders convened on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit, examining the full range of bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhancing cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, digital technologies, defense, space, energy, culture, and people-to-people connections.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), "Both leaders acknowledged the renewed momentum in relations fostered by the adoption of the landmark India-EU FTA and the India-EU Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2030. The leaders agreed to further fortify India-Slovakia relations for mutual benefit, particularly in the digital realm."
Pellegrini underscored that this was the "first-ever" reception of a Slovak Head of State, describing the meeting as a "historic milestone" for Slovakia-India relations.
"I congratulated him on an exceptionally well-organised India AI Impact Summit 2026, which united leaders, innovators, and businesses to scale AI responsibly and enhance global collaboration. We concurred that AI must be democratized so it benefits everyone — not just a select few," the Slovak President posted on X following his discussion with PM Modi.
"We also concentrated on tangible outcomes in trade and investment, as well as deeper collaboration in innovation, secure technology, and talent, including academic and expert exchanges in the energy sector," he added.
The theme of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 is "Welfare for all, happiness of all". It aims to position India as a leader in AI and envisions a future where AI propels humanity, encourages inclusive growth, and safeguards our shared planet.
Seven Working Groups anchor the Summit, aligned with three pillars: People, Planet, and Progress. These groups are tasked with delivering tangible outcomes that showcase AI’s impact across various sectors. The seven themes are: AI for Economic Growth and Social Good; Democratizing AI Resources; Inclusion for Social Empowerment; Safe and Trusted AI; Human Capital; Science; Resilience, Innovation, and Efficiency.
The Summit has attracted over 500 Global AI Leaders, including CEOs/CXOs, around 100 CEOs and Founders, 150 Academicians and Researchers, and 400 CTOs, VPs, and Philanthropists. It also involves more than 100 government representatives, including over 20 Heads of State and Government, along with approximately 60 Ministers and Vice Ministers.
