Palasamudram (Andhra Pradesh), April 25 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Friday encouraged the new officers graduating from the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics (NACIN) to lead with courage and clarity in their mission to establish a transparent and accountable tax framework.
During his speech, Chaudhary emphasized the significant role of IRS officers in the nation’s economic development and expressed trust in their capability to further the government’s goal of Viksit Bharat by fostering both economic advancement and social equity.
The minister served as the chief guest at the passing out ceremony for the 75th batch of 42 Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer trainees, comprising 25 men and 17 women.
Additionally, five officers from Bhutan participated in the training program.
The event began with a solemn moment of silence to honor the victims of the tragic Pahalgam incident, as attendees paid their respects.
In his remarks, CBIC Chairman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal highlighted the crucial role of IRS officers in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and national growth. He urged them to remain informed, uphold integrity, and embrace digital innovation for effective service.
Agarwal also called for a balance between enforcement and facilitation, encouraging officers to lead with empathy, confidence, and discipline.
CBIC member Aruna Narayan Gupta spoke about the importance of ethical behavior, empathy, and lifelong learning, emphasizing the concept of Sevabhav as essential for IRS officers. She urged them to approach their roles with compassion, humility, and a service-first attitude, reinforcing that serving the public is central to governance.
NACIN Director General M. Subramanyam congratulated the officers as they are the first group to complete their foundational training at the newly established NACIN Palasamudram campus.
He further stressed the need for adaptability, public service, and integrity in shaping modern tax officers, expressing pride in the academy’s advancing capabilities, which include state-of-the-art training facilities and expanding international partnerships.
