Bhopal, April 23 (NationPress) An eight-year-old girl tragically lost her life in the early hours of Wednesday following a vicious attack in the vicinity of Bada Malhera police station in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

The perpetrator, 45-year-old Balkrishna Yadav, reportedly made an attempt to sexually assault the girl before inflicting severe violence.

The horrifying incident transpired on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Rohit Aalwa, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Bada Malhera, "Yadav enticed the victim along with her siblings and cousins by offering them toffees while they were playing near their residence. He then took the girl to a secluded area, dismissing her siblings, where he tried to perpetrate the assault. When his attempt failed, Yadav brutally crushed the girl’s face with a heavy stone to silence her and conceal his crime."

The officer added, "He might have committed the crime, but the victim's siblings promptly informed their mother that the accused had lured them away.

With the victim's father away for work in a nearby town, her mother rushed to the scene and saw the accused fleeing.

She quickly notified the police, while the critically injured girl was taken to a local hospital.

Given the severity of her injuries, the victim was later transferred to Chhatarpur District Hospital.

"Although doctors wished to transfer her to Gwalior, her health was too unstable for transportation. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Wednesday," the officer stated.

Initial medical examinations did not confirm sexual assault; however, the autopsy report is pending to clarify this detail.

Depending on its conclusions, additional charges may be filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita.

The accused was apprehended on Tuesday.
