Aizawl, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma, officially launched the Aizawl Peak Resort Skywalk, marking the inaugural skywalk in this hilly northeastern region of India.
During the inauguration event, the Chief Minister praised the unwavering commitment and diligence displayed by H. Ginzalal and his family.
He acknowledged their steadfastness and belief, recognizing that their hard work has been significantly rewarded.
Furthermore, Lalduhoma expressed his gratitude towards Ginzalal for their vital role in enhancing tourism in Mizoram. The Aizawl Peak Resort at Hangi Lunglen Tlang is operated by Ginzalal's family, who serves as the Chief Minister's technical adviser.
A senior official from the Tourism Department mentioned that the construction of the Skywalk was carried out by Nail India Adventure Private Limited, based in Pune.
The Skywalk boasts 30mm toughened glass panels, extending 10 meters in length and 2.24 meters in width. Each square meter of the glass can support up to seven individuals, allowing a total capacity of 135 people at once.
As per the official, a test involving a 9,500 kg sandbag was performed to guarantee the structure's safety, confirming its robustness.
Additionally, safety evaluations conducted by NIT Mizoram concluded that the Skywalk could safely accommodate 150 people, each weighing around 100 kg, simultaneously.
However, to improve safety and manage crowds efficiently, only 20 visitors will be permitted on the Skywalk at any given time, according to the official.
The Skywalk opened for public access at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The tourism official is optimistic that the Aizawl Peak Resort Skywalk will enhance tourism in Mizoram.
The state, bordered by Myanmar and Bangladesh, boasts approximately 165 tourist destinations.
The official stated that various initiatives have been undertaken to develop tourism sustainably and cohesively, transforming Mizoram into a prominent national and international tourist hub, thus facilitating growth and economic advancement through improved tourism infrastructure.
