How Will Mobile Land Registration Benefit Seniors Over 80 in Bihar?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 13 (NationPress) The government of Nitish Kumar has unveiled its plan to launch Mobile Registration Units, aimed at assisting individuals aged 80 and above in the registration of their land and properties, all from the comfort of their homes.
It has been noted that elderly citizens often encounter significant hurdles when it comes to registering land or properties, primarily due to physical challenges and complicated procedures.
In response to this concern, the Bihar government will now offer doorstep registration services for land and property to senior citizens in this demographic.
In a written statement shared on his official social media account on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that those aged 80 and above can now access all necessary registration services from their homes, if desired.
"The Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department will ensure document registration services are provided within a set timeframe through Mobile Registration Units. Interested individuals can apply online, and the relevant department will guarantee that the registration process is completed within seven working days," stated the Chief Minister.
Highlighting the government's overarching governance agenda, CM Nitish remarked that following the formation of the new government on November 20, 2025, Bihar has begun executing the 'Seven Resolutions–3' initiative to elevate the state among the developed regions of the country.
"The primary aim of the seventh resolution, 'Respect for All – Ease of Living', is to alleviate the challenges citizens face daily, making governance more accessible. We are consistently making pivotal decisions in this regard," he added.
The Chief Minister also introduced another vital reform concerning land transactions.
He noted that both buyers and sellers frequently encounter issues due to outdated land information during the registration process.
To tackle this, a new system will be established wherein the Registration Department will acquire current land status details from the Circle Office and provide this information to applicants prior to registration, upon request.
"This initiative will foster transparency and supply accurate land information to all parties involved, reducing disputes and complications," he stated further.
CM Nitish directed the relevant departments to implement both initiatives starting from April 1.
He expressed optimism that these actions would significantly aid senior citizens and enhance the overall land registration procedures in the state.
The Chief Minister also encouraged public engagement regarding the new system, inviting suggestions until January 19, 2026, through designated channels.
