Bhopal, May 7 (NationPress) Authorities in Madhya Pradesh executed mock drills at various locations, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Katni on Wednesday.
In Bhopal, these drills took place at multiple sites, primarily in public areas, shopping centers, and educational institutions under the oversight of the District Collector and Police Commissioner.
The activities involved search and rescue operations at BHEL, fire and evacuation exercises at DB Mall, emergency medical responses at Nutan College, mass evacuation simulations at New Market, and building collapse rescue efforts at Kokta Multi.
Meanwhile, the District Collector of Indore shared a video message encouraging residents to participate in the civil defense mock drill, which aligns with the directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Singh urged the citizens of Indore to turn off the lights in their homes, businesses, and other structures at 7:30 PM. He also requested that drivers park their vehicles on the roadside and switch off their lights during this time.
“At 7:30 PM, a siren will sound for two minutes, prompting residents to extinguish lights in their homes and shops. Those on the road are asked to park and turn off their vehicle lights,” Singh stated.
This request aims to ensure public cooperation for a successful mock drill.
Additionally, Singh explained that a special blackout simulation will occur citywide from 7:30 PM to 7:42 PM. A red alert siren will sound two minutes before the blackout, advising citizens to turn off all lights and cease driving. The exercise will conclude at 7:42 PM with a green alert siren.
Singh also encouraged residents to remain calm, avoid panic, and fully cooperate.
He emphasized that this is merely a drill and that routine city operations will remain unaffected.
In Jabalpur, the mock drill was conducted at Samdariya Mall. The initiative was organized by the district administration and included teams from the fire brigade, health department, electricity department, and bomb disposal squad.
Jabalpur SP Sampat Upadhyay reported that officials practiced various tasks such as identifying explosive devices, rescuing and treating injured individuals, controlling fires, and managing law enforcement during emergencies.
