New Delhi, Sep 16 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had a productive telephonic discussion on Tuesday, during which they emphasized their dedication to enhancing the Green Strategic Partnership between their nations. This partnership spans various sectors including trade, investment, innovation, energy, water management, food processing, and sustainable development.
“I had an excellent discussion today with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark. We reaffirmed our strong commitment to fortifying our Green Strategic Partnership and aim for the swift conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. I also extended my best wishes for Denmark's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Our conversation included our mutual interest in swiftly resolving the conflict in Ukraine,” PM Modi shared on X following the call.
Furthermore, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes for Denmark’s ongoing EU Council Presidency and its non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council.
As per the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the two leaders also covered various significant regional and global matters. During their talk, PM Modi reiterated India’s steadfast support for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis, advocating for the early restoration of peace and stability. Both leaders expressed their commitment to concluding the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union promptly.
Frederiksen reaffirmed Denmark's robust support for reaching a mutually advantageous India-EU Free Trade Agreement at the earliest, as well as for the AI Impact Summit set to be hosted by India in 2026.
“After my discussion with Narendra Modi, I reaffirmed the strength of our relations and our Green Strategic Partnership. We shared perspectives on global challenges. I stressed the importance of collaboration, especially in addressing the global repercussions of Russia's war against Ukraine,” reported Denmark’s PM office on X post-call.
In May, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen, reaffirming India’s dedication to deepening its Green Strategic Partnership with Denmark.
“I thank PM Mette Frederiksen for the warm reception in Copenhagen this evening. I conveyed the personal greetings of PM Narendra Modi. I appreciate Denmark's solidarity and support in combating terrorism. I value PM Frederiksen’s insights to advance our Green Strategic Partnership and broaden our cooperation,” EAM Jaishankar tweeted after the meeting.
EAM Jaishankar also engaged with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, discussing bilateral relations and global issues, while appreciating Denmark's support for India in combating terrorism.
