New Delhi, Feb 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Dutch counterpart Dick Schoof emphasized the necessity for India and the Netherlands to collaborate in harnessing the complete potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to facilitate social transformation.

The two leaders convened on the margins of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which featured a distinguished delegation from the Netherlands led by Schoof.

“I met with Prime Minister Dick Schoof at the AI Impact Summit. The Netherlands has made remarkable advancements in the digital and AI landscape, and our nations will join forces in these domains. We discussed enhancing collaborations in semiconductors, large-scale water projects, green hydrogen, talent mobility, counterterrorism, and more,” PM Modi shared on X post-meeting.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Schoof for his attendance at the Summit and recognized the Netherlands’ role as Co-Chair of the Working Group on AI for Economic Growth and Social Good. Schoof highlighted the significance of the Summit and conveyed optimism that the Summit Declaration would guide forthcoming policy discussions.

“Recognizing that the emergence of AI signifies a transformative phase in technological progress and presents considerable opportunities for society, the leaders stressed the importance of India and the Netherlands collaborating to unlock AI's full potential for social transformation. In this regard, they also deliberated on strengthening ties in emerging technologies such as AI, quantum technology, and semiconductors,” stated a release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

In reviewing the bilateral rapport, both leaders acknowledged the consistent advancement in the India-Netherlands association and reiterated their dedication to further enriching the partnership across various sectors, including Water, Agriculture, Health (WAH), clean energy, green hydrogen, defense, security, education, and people-to-people connections. They concurred that finalizing the landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations presents a historic opportunity to fully realize the trade and economic partnership between the two nations.

Both leaders also exchanged perspectives on significant regional and international developments, reaffirming their commitment to collaborating on multilateral platforms to tackle global challenges. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s stance on the Ukraine conflict, accentuating the necessity for its prompt resolution. Both leaders vowed to enhance their global counterterrorism efforts.

India and the Netherlands maintain a robust bilateral relationship grounded in shared democratic principles and multifaceted cooperation across various areas. The two nations have established a Strategic Partnership on Water, encompassing extensive collaboration and knowledge sharing in flood management, clean water technologies, and other fields.

“The India-Netherlands partnership has significantly deepened in traditional sectors of trade and investment, WAH (Water, Agriculture, Health), people-to-people relations, and has recently expanded into strategic domains such as technology, innovation, defense and security, renewable energy, education, and the maritime sector,” declared the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Prime Minister Modi last encountered Schoof during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg in November 2025, remarking that the bilateral partnership between the two nations is rapidly advancing in areas like energy, technology, innovation, and water resources.

In December, both nations also conducted the 13th Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi, discussing strategies to further bolster their partnership in critical technologies and innovations, including semiconductors and AI, science and technology, green hydrogen, shipping, defense, security, and priority sectors under the WAH agenda.
