On Monday, the Prime Minister officially opened the 'India AI Impact Expo 2026' at Bharat Mandapam, stating that India's advancements in AI will not only generate transformative solutions for the country but will also contribute to global progress.
PM Modi noted that being among innovators, researchers, and tech enthusiasts provided insight into the remarkable potential of AI, Indian talent, and innovation.

The Expo coincides with the India AI Impact Summit, marking the first global AI gathering hosted in the Global South, featuring unprecedented participation with over 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and 500 global AI leaders expected to attend.
Meanwhile, the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which began on Monday, has gathered heads of state and government, ministers, global tech leaders, esteemed researchers, multilateral institutions, and industry stakeholders to discuss the role of AI in promoting inclusive growth, enhancing public systems, and enabling sustainable development. This summit marks the first of its kind at this scale within the Global South.
The Summit aims to convert global AI discussions into actionable development outcomes under the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital India initiative by bringing together policymakers, technology companies, innovators, academia, and industry leaders.
On February 19, the Prime Minister is set to deliver a keynote address, laying the groundwork for enhanced global cooperation while advancing India’s vision for an inclusive, trustworthy, and development-focused AI.
The ‘India–AI Impact Summit 2026’ seeks to promote an impact-oriented and people-centric approach to AI, focusing on delivering measurable social and economic outcomes.
This summit is built on three foundational pillars, referred to as ‘Sutras’ — a Sanskrit term meaning guiding principles or essential threads that interlace wisdom and action. These Sutras articulate how AI can be leveraged through multilateral collaboration for collective benefit.
A significant highlight of the summit includes the three flagship Global Impact Challenges — AI for ALL, AI by HER, and YUVAi — aimed at identifying scalable, development-oriented AI solutions in line with national priorities.
