Guwahati, Sep 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a bioethanol facility and laid the groundwork for a polypropylene unit at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) located in Assam’s Golaghat on Sunday.
Additionally, he initiated several projects totaling over Rs 18,530 crore in Darrang, which will provide a fresh boost to the area’s development.
While addressing the audience, PM Modi stated, "Assam is a state that enhances India’s energy potential. The petroleum products sourced from Assam significantly contribute to the country’s progress. Our government is dedicated to raising this potential to unprecedented levels," he asserted.
Attendees at the event were filled with enthusiasm over the array of developmental initiatives coming to their region. Many were thrilled to hear his speech for the first time, with hopes for his more regular visits.

He noted that a decade ago, India was trailing in solar energy production, yet today, it ranks among the top five nations globally in solar energy capacity.
“In these transformative times, India needs alternative fuels to lessen its reliance on oil and gas,” the PM highlighted, pointing out ethanol as a viable solution.
He also mentioned the newly inaugurated plant that converts bamboo into ethanol, emphasizing that this initiative will significantly benefit farmers and tribal communities in Assam.
