This trip was notably highlighted by a heartfelt reunion with US President Donald Trump, which underscored the strong and dynamic India-US relationship.

Upon his arrival at the White House on Thursday, President Trump greeted him with a warm hug, expressing, "We missed you, we missed you a lot." This meeting marked their first encounter in five years, and both leaders swiftly rekindled their camaraderie. "It's great to see you again," PM Modi replied, establishing a friendly and productive atmosphere.

During a joint press conference, President Trump lauded PM Modi's leadership, referring to him as "a special man" and "a great leader". He acknowledged PM Modi's vital contributions to India's progress, stating, "He is a great leader and doing really a great job in India. Everybody talks about him. He's doing really a fantastic job."

Reflecting on their prior meetings, Trump reminisced about his visit to India in 2020 and the grand Namaste Trump event in Ahmedabad, which he termed as "tremendous".

A significant highlight of the visit was the initiation of a new program, the US-India COMPACT (Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) for the 21st Century.

This initiative aims to bolster collaboration across crucial sectors, including defense, trade, and technology.

As noted by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), "In their roles as leaders of vibrant democracies that cherish freedom, the rule of law, human rights, and pluralism, President Trump and Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed the strength of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, built on mutual trust, shared interests, goodwill, and strong engagement of their citizens."

The leaders also set a new economic milestone under the Mission 500 framework, aiming to double bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. They further announced plans to establish a new ten-year Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership, reflecting their commitment to enhancing defense relations.
