Washington, Feb 14 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump presented a signed edition of his book 'Our Journey Together' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting at the White House on Thursday.

In the Oval Office, Trump greeted Modi with a warm embrace before engaging in important discussions.

"I am thrilled to see you back at the White House," Modi expressed to President Trump.

During a shared press conference, Trump also gifted a memorable photograph from his historic trip to India in 2020, where he visited the Taj Mahal.

As the two leaders met at the White House on Thursday (local time), they exchanged hugs and handshakes. Trump remarked, "We missed you, we missed you a lot" while welcoming Modi.

Upon his arrival, Modi hugged Trump and said, "It's wonderful to see you again." This marked Modi's first encounter with Trump following his re-election, and they picked up their camaraderie seamlessly.

At a subsequent news briefing, they reminisced about their enduring friendship and previous meetings.

Trump stated, "I am excited to welcome my friend Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, back to the White House."

"He is a remarkable individual," Trump added, reflecting on Modi's hospitality during his visit to India with his wife, Melania Trump, in 2020.

President Trump introduced Modi to various officials, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk.

The Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House shared a picture of Modi and Trump on social media, stating, "Behind the scenes in the West Wing lobby -- @POTUS Trump welcomes Prime Minister @NarendraModi of India to the @WhiteHouse."

The Indian delegation, which included External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and India's Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, arrived shortly after Modi.

Prior to Modi's arrival, Indian flags were displayed at the White House. The Prime Minister is among the first global leaders to visit the US following President Trump's inauguration, having received an invitation within three weeks of the new administration taking office.

Since November 2024, Modi and Trump have communicated via phone on two occasions.

EAM Jaishankar attended Trump's inauguration ceremony as Modi's Special Envoy.

While in the US, EAM Jaishankar also met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and participated in the QUAD Foreign Ministers’ meeting in January 2025.

Before meeting Trump at the White House, Modi held bilateral discussions with National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard.
