Modi's 25 years in public service: Odisha CM Majhi leads Seva Jyoti Yatra in Khordha
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday, 7 October 2025, participated in the 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' programme at Khordha to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's completion of 25 years in public service. Majhi expressed gratitude for Modi's 'dedicated service, visionary leadership and commitment to the nation,' underlining the milestone with a series of state-wide initiatives.
A Quarter-Century of Public Life
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi recalled that Prime Minister Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001 — the starting point of his uninterrupted public service. 'From serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first 13 years and as the Prime Minister for the last 12 years, he has continuously served the country and transformed India into a strong, prosperous and decisive nation,' Majhi said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that Modi had 'never considered himself a ruler' but had instead dedicated himself as the 'Pradhan Sevak' — chief servant — of 140 crore Indians.
Odisha's Month-Long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan
Majhi noted that the people of Odisha had participated enthusiastically in the month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', which commenced on 17 September to commemorate the 25-year milestone. Under the 'Ashirwad Ki Diya' initiative, citizens across the state lit one crore lamps to extend their good wishes to the Prime Minister.
Notably, a total of 8,810 units of blood were collected during the campaign — a figure that, according to Majhi, set a new national record.
Welfare Schemes and the 'Double Engine' Push
The Chief Minister highlighted a range of Central and state welfare programmes, including the Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He also referenced state-level schemes such as 'KG to PG', Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana, Subhadra Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanyabibaha Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, PM-KISAN, and CM-KISAN.
Majhi described the development process in Odisha as progressing rapidly through what he called the 'double-engine' government model — the joint effort of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre and state administration. He stated that the state's primary goal was to build a 'prosperous, empowered and self-reliant Odisha by 2036' and contribute to Modi's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision.
BJP Leaders and PM Modi's Direct Outreach
Alongside the Khordha event, 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha' and 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' programmes were also organised in Bhubaneswar, attended by BJP state president Manmohan Samal and other senior party leaders. Prime Minister Modi also interacted directly with people from all 30 revenue districts of Odisha, including those from the state capital, during the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha' event.
Samal said Modi's address had 'filled people across the country with renewed enthusiasm and strength to fulfil the resolve of Viksit Bharat 2047.' Majhi concluded by urging party workers and citizens to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach people at the last mile.
With the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan concluding on this day and PM Modi interacting across all 30 districts, the BJP in Odisha appears set to sustain outreach momentum heading into the next phase of state development planning.
