Shimla, Sep 18 (NationPress) The president of the Himachal Pradesh BJP, Rajeev Bindal, stated on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered substantial relief to the average citizen by lowering the Goods and Services Tax (GST) slabs.
“This marks a historic moment in India where the tax rates have been reduced. For instance, if an individual plans to construct a room requiring 1,000 bags of cement, the decreased GST on cement results in a savings of Rs 60 per bag, leading to a total benefit of Rs 60,000,” he emphasized while addressing participants of a cleanliness initiative at the Kali Bari complex here.
This event was part of the Seva Pakhwada (service fortnight) celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Furthermore, Bindal mentioned that purchasing a television set could save consumers between Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
“If a woman purchases daily cosmetic products, she will enjoy a benefit of 25 percent,” he noted.
In addition, the GST rates on essential items like flour, pulses, rice, and others have dropped from 18 to just 5 percent or even zero. Bindal highlighted that the GST on “medicines we use daily has reduced from 12 to 5 percent, and even to zero, while life-saving medicines have also seen a drop to zero percent.”
The ongoing Seva Pakhwada serves as a fortnight dedicated to the welfare of the common man and aims at bolstering the economy of the nation.
To honor PM Modi’s birthday, blood donation drives were organized at 21 locations across the state on Wednesday.
Bindal noted that September 18 was designated as cleanliness day, with events held statewide.
“To preserve the cleanliness of our nation, he has initiated the construction of toilets for 12 crore underprivileged families and has encouraged the public to unite in maintaining cleanliness in our country, state, villages, cities, and neighborhoods,” remarked the BJP chief, who is also a former Cabinet minister.
