New Delhi, Sep 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress-led administration in Himachal Pradesh for increasing the cement prices, undermining the advantages of the recent GST reduction. He remarked that the government is occupied with “lining their own pockets”.

While inaugurating the new BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi stated, “As soon as we reduced the GST on cement, the Himachal Pradesh government hiked its price. They wasted no time in filling their own pockets.”

He urged BJP members to ensure that the benefits of the next-generation GST reforms reach the masses.

“It is also your duty to promote Swadeshi products and display signs in every shop encouraging the pride of selling Swadeshi goods,” he emphasized.

PM Modi asserted, “Promoting Swadeshi products is crucial for making India self-sufficient.”

In his address, he underlined the government's commitment to public safety and tackling corruption, stating that the recent GST reforms and increased taxable income limits have led to annual public savings of Rs 2.50 lakh crore nationwide.

“Previously, when a family spent Rs 1 lakh, about Rs 25,000 was lost to various taxes. Now, post-GST 2.0 reform, that same expenditure incurs a tax of only Rs 5,000,” he elaborated.

According to PM Modi, BJP-led governments across the country are implementing models based on ‘Sushasan’, concentrating on efficient service delivery.

He noted that his government increased the taxable income limit from Rs 2 lakh in 2014 to Rs 12 lakh to enhance savings for ordinary citizens.

Additionally, PM Modi encouraged BJP members to assist women nationwide in participating in the ongoing free medical screening initiative, ‘Sashakt Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’, which has already examined 3 crore women for tuberculosis, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and other health issues.

Point of View

It is critical to maintain an unbiased perspective. PM Modi's remarks on the Congress-led Himachal government highlight ongoing tensions regarding fiscal policies. While the promotion of Swadeshi products and economic reforms is essential, accountability in governance must also be prioritized. The focus should remain on delivering tangible benefits to the citizens.
