Mumbai, Jan 28 (NationPress) The inquiry into the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique has taken a new direction, as his son Zeeshan Siddique has alleged connections between his father and BJP leader Mohit Kamboj regarding slum redevelopment initiatives in Bandra.
Baba Siddique, who was anticipated to be nominated to the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC), was fatally shot on October 12 last year, shocking both the political and real estate communities in Mumbai.
Zeeshan Siddique asserted that his father had documented communications with various builders and politicians, including Mohit Kamboj, related to redevelopment projects.
He also referred to WhatsApp messages from the day of the murder, particularly between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., concerning a project overseen by Mundra Builders.
Zeeshan additionally provided a video allegedly showing members of Mundra Builders using foul language towards his father while addressing slum residents.
In response to these allegations, Mohit Kamboj released a statement denying any connection to the murder and denouncing the accusations.
"The information was misrepresented. Baba Siddique was a dear friend of mine. We communicated two to three times daily," stated Kamboj.
"On the evening of the incident, I spoke with him. We were part of the NDA and discussed political matters and other general topics. We both resided in Bandra and maintained a positive relationship," he continued.
Kamboj further dismissed Zeeshan Siddique’s allegations, accusing him of distorting the truth.
"I strongly denounce the attempt to misrepresent Zeeshan Siddique's remarks. The reality behind Baba Siddique’s murder should be uncovered, and the perpetrators must be punished severely. I call upon the Mumbai Police to conduct a thorough investigation and disclose the motive behind this atrocious act," Kamboj emphasized.
Zeeshan Siddique also implicated Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab in his statement to the Mumbai Police, who was reportedly involved in reassuring residents about selecting trustworthy developers.
This case has highlighted the dubious connections between politics and real estate in Mumbai, especially within the lucrative slum redevelopment industry.
