Hyderabad, Nov 6 (NationPress) Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, declared on Thursday that he would prefer to lose his head rather than donning a skull cap for electoral gains.
He criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bye-election, Naveen Yadav, for their use of skull caps during their campaign.
"If faced with a situation where I need to wear a skull cap to secure votes, I'd rather lose my head. I am a proud Hindu and will not disrespect other religions by pretending to perform namaz. Even distinguished Muslim leaders like Azharuddin and AIMIM chose not to wear it. Yet, CM Revanth Reddy and the Congress candidate did so merely for electoral advantage," Bandi Sanjay expressed on X after joining a roadshow in Borabanda, Jubilee Hills.
He further challenged, "Does the CM possess the courage to ask Azharuddin to recite Vakratunda Mahakaya? Or invite Owaisi to the Bhagyalakshmi temple and have him sing for Ammavaru to secure Hindu votes?"
During the roadshow, he expressed his readiness for a debate about who truly developed Hyderabad.
The MoS also criticized CM Revanth Reddy for not holding former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and his family accountable in various cases.
He remarked that Telangana is the only state facing corruption by both ruling and opposition parties.
Bandi Sanjay emphasized his ambition to raise the saffron flag at the Charminar.
He noted, "Andhra Pradesh is witnessing rapid development due to a double-engine sarkar. Telangana will also thrive with such governance," he added.
Previously, election authorities had given the green light for Bandi Sanjay's campaign amidst significant drama.
After initially denying permission, they reversed their decision when he arrived to proceed with his campaign.
The MoS asserted that they do not require anyone's approval and mentioned that the BJP has a history of conducting public meetings in the old city.
Meanwhile, the BJP has called on the Chief Electoral Officer to take action against the Punjagutta ACP and the Jubilee Hills Returning Officer for retracting the previously granted permission for the meeting.
