Hyderabad, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has leveled allegations against the ruling Congress party, claiming that they are orchestrating mass rigging for the upcoming by-election in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency. On Thursday, the BRS appealed to the Election Commission of India to intervene and ensure that the election is conducted in a free and fair manner.
The BRS is demanding that central forces be deployed throughout the constituency ahead of the November 11 bypoll. They also urged the Election Commission to implement CCTV surveillance and live webcasting at all polling stations with central oversight.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, BRS parliamentary leader K. R. Suresh Reddy called for protective measures against mass rigging, fabrication of fake identity cards, booth capturing, and intimidation tactics allegedly employed by the Congress party and its candidate Naveen Yadav.
The BRS highlighted that the Congress party's campaign is being led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy along with his cabinet members.
“Revanth Reddy has been campaigning tirelessly in the constituency for six consecutive days. His tenure as Chief Minister seems contingent upon winning this bye-election, especially since the Congress Party did not secure any seats during the recent General Elections in the Hyderabad Region.”
The BRS also pointed out that the Congress party has recently included former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin in their Cabinet, despite him not being a member of the legislative assembly or the council, as a strategy to sway minority voters.
“The Chief Minister, who also serves as the Home Minister, has instigated a climate of fear among BRS members through abductions of key local leaders, physical assaults, and harassment through municipal notices targeting BRS cadre engaged in small businesses, accusing them of illegal activities.”
Additionally, the BRS informed the Election Commission that the MIM is backing the Congress candidate and using its influence to identify and target active BRS minority leaders within the constituency.
It was alleged that local police and civic bodies are acting as agents for the ruling party, with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and District Election Officer (DEO) lacking the authority or willingness to ensure a free and fair election, as their appointments are controlled by the Congress Party.
“Multiple sources have confirmed that the Congress party has organized plans for mass rigging and identity fraud during the voting on November 11. Reports indicate that they are moving numerous Muslim women, who typically wear Burqas, from different areas in Hyderabad to the Jubilee Hills constituency for this purpose,” the BRS letter states.
Reliable information suggests that fake and duplicate voter IDs are being generated through the misuse of Aadhaar-linked data and copies of legitimate voter cards. These counterfeit identities are purportedly being handed out to non-residents brought in from outside the constituency to unlawfully cast votes in favor of the Congress candidate.
