MP CM Mohan Yadav invites French firms to Bhopal GIS 2027
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, invited French companies to explore investment opportunities in the state and participate in the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2027, proposed to be held in Bhopal in February 2027. The invitation was extended during a formal meeting with a French delegation at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister's official residence.
The Meeting and Key Discussions
The French delegation was led by Patrick Levrino, Consul General of France in Mumbai. Chief Minister Yadav urged Levrino to bring a contingent of French companies to the upcoming summit, asserting that Madhya Pradesh could serve as a reliable long-term partner for France. Yadav also welcomed the delegation warmly and honoured Levrino with an angavastram.
Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Sukhbir Singh and senior officials from the French Consulate General's office were also present at the meeting, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office.
MPIDC to Coordinate with IFCCI
Chief Minister Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) would coordinate with the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) and the French Consulate General's office to facilitate French companies' participation in the summit. This institutional coordination signals a structured outreach rather than a one-off diplomatic courtesy.
GIS 2025: The Benchmark Being Chased
The previous Global Investors Summit was held in Bhopal on 24 and 25 February 2025. The two-day event attracted investment proposals worth ₹26.61 lakh crore, according to the state government. When combined with regional industry conclaves and other investor interactions through the year, total investment proposals received amounted to ₹30.77 lakh crore. These figures set a formidable benchmark for the GIS 2027 edition to match or surpass.
What GIS 2027 Aims to Achieve
The proposed summit is designed to provide a platform for the state government to showcase investment opportunities to international businesses and encourage foreign direct investment in Madhya Pradesh. This meeting forms part of the state's broader strategy to strengthen international business ties and attract capital for industrial development and employment generation.
With the February 2027 deadline approaching, the state is expected to intensify diplomatic and trade outreach across multiple countries in the coming months.
