Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday, 3 May 2025, called for a decisive shift toward Green Building practices, warning that rapid urbanisation, climate change, and depletion of natural resources demand immediate action from the construction sector. He was addressing a Green Building Conference in Bhopal, organised in connection with the 113th Governing Council meeting of the Indian Building Congress (IBC) and hosted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD).

Chief Minister Yadav described the building sector as standing at a crucial crossroads, emphasising that environmentally responsible and resource-efficient construction methods are no longer optional but essential. The seminar brought together delegates from nearly 20 states, including engineers, officers from the PWD, and representatives from central organisations. Notably, the Chief Minister welcomed a collaboration between IIT Indore and the PWD, stating that the combination of academic expertise and practical experience would accelerate the adoption of green building concepts. The agreement includes provisions for training engineers and architects in modern sustainable practices, conducting joint research projects, and developing pilot models of green buildings in both urban and rural areas.
