Bhopal, Oct 23 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav marked the celebration of 'Bhai Dooj' this Thursday by transferring Rs 250 into the bank accounts of all women enrolled in the Ladli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister executed the fund transfer with a single click during a Bhai Dooj event at his official residence in Bhopal. During the ceremony, a group of women BJP leaders adorned CM Yadav's wrist with a 'Raksha Sootra'.
The Bhai Dooj festival represents the enduring bond between brothers and sisters. Sisters pray for their brothers' long life and happiness, while brothers vow to offer lifelong protection and love.
On this occasion, CM Yadav conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the state's populace.
"A sister’s prayers for her brother’s success and longevity are as pure as nectar. This sacred festival strengthens our sweet bond," the Chief Minister stated while addressing the women leaders present.
Earlier, he shared a message on social media platform X, saying, "Warmest congratulations and best wishes on the auspicious festival of Bhai Dooj. The sisters' desire for their brothers' success and long life is as sweet as nectar. This holy festival of love and devotion enriches the bond between siblings. May sweetness endure in all your lives; this is my heartfelt wish."
Under the Ladli Behna Yojana, a flagship initiative of the state’s social welfare framework, the 29th instalment of Rs 1,541 crore was transferred to over 1.26 crore beneficiaries on October 12 in Sheopur district.
With the additional Rs 250 transferred on Thursday, each beneficiary of the Ladli Behna scheme has now received a total of Rs 1,500 this month. Notably, CM Mohan Yadav had previously announced that the government intends to transfer Rs 1,500 monthly after Diwali.
During the event, CM Yadav referred to the state’s sisters as “our pride.” He highlighted that women currently receive Rs 1,500 monthly, with plans to increase this amount to Rs 3,000 by 2028.
Over 12.6 million women are presently benefiting from the Ladli Behan Scheme. At its inception in 2022, women received Rs 1,000 per month, which was gradually raised to Rs 1,250 and now stands at Rs 1,500 monthly.
This scheme was introduced ahead of the Assembly elections in 2023 with a monthly allocation of Rs 1,000, and it is set to rise to Rs 3,000 before the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2028.
