Bhopal, May 14 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Congress filed a formal complaint against the senior BJP figure and Minister of Tribal Affairs, Kunwar Vijay Shah, for his controversial statements about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. A group of Congress leaders, headed by state president Jitu Patwari, visited the Shyamla Hill police station in Bhopal to submit their grievance against Minister Shah. Patwari informed journalists that the police have officially recorded a complaint against Vijay Shah.
"The police have initiated a case against BJP Minister Vijay Shah in the 'rojnamcha vivaran' (general statement). However, Congress demands he face charges of treason," he stated, presenting a copy of the complaint filed at the police station. Accompanied by several Congress members, including former minister PC Sharma and MLA Arif Masood, Patwari announced that Congress plans to organize a statewide protest against Vijay Shah and submit complaints at every police station on Thursday.
"Congress has resolved to demonstrate at each police station across Madhya Pradesh and file a complaint against Vijay Shah. If the BJP does not dismiss Vijay Shah within the next 24 hours, Congress workers will take to the streets on Thursday," Patwari warned.
Earlier in the day, V.D. Sharma, president of the Madhya Pradesh BJP, acknowledged the comments made by Shah and issued a warning regarding the situation.
Sharma stressed that the party leadership is very attentive, asserting that no one is entitled to make inappropriate remarks. He added that if any such incident occurs, the BJP would hold an immediate discussion as necessary on the matter.
"Our leadership acknowledged the situation, and he was promptly cautioned. No one is permitted to speak against our sister (Colonel Sofiya Qureshi), who is a daughter of our nation, and the entire country honors her contributions," Sharma conveyed to reporters.
It is worth noting that during a program on May 12, Vijay Shah, the MP's Minister of Tribal Affairs, referred to Operation Sindoor, stating that PM Modi had sent a "sister from the same community" as those in Pakistan to retaliate for the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He further remarked, "PM Modi is committed to our society. Those who caused our daughters to become widows (in Pahalgam), we dispatched one of their own to teach them a lesson."
