Srinagar, Dec 27 (NationPress) MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi of the National Conference (NC), who has engaged in a public disagreement with J&K CM Omar Abdullah regarding the reservation matter, stated on Saturday that he refuses to allow the protesting students to feel isolated and intends to support their demonstrations.
Speaking to reporters, Ruhullah Mehdi expressed, "If the government does not involve students in the ongoing discussions about the pending resolution on the reservation matter, I will not hesitate to join their demonstrations."
He emphasized the necessity for the authorities to communicate with the students, providing them with updates on the decision-making process. "Engage with the students, inform them of the decisions made, and clarify the status of the file. If there are aspects that must remain confidential, do not disclose those, but at least keep the students informed," he urged.
The MP representing the Srinagar-Budgam Lok Sabha constituency voiced his worries about continual notifications and delays that have left students feeling disheartened.
"If the government cannot even engage in dialogue with them, then I will not abandon these students. If they require someone to advocate for them, I am ready to provide complete support. There are just a few hours remaining for the authorities to demonstrate empathy," he remarked, referencing his deadline of December 27, after which he has pledged to join the students' protest over job reservations.
"If they possess even a modicum of compassion for the students, they should reach out, communicate with them, and clarify the current status of the process and any steps taken," he added.
He reiterated that the students will determine the location for the protest, stating, "Wherever the students gather, I will be there alongside them," Aga Ruhullah affirmed.
