The State's Minister for Sports and Cooperatives, Vishvas Sarang, conducted an inspection of the Chhath Ghats established in the Narela Assembly constituency in Bhopal on Wednesday, providing essential directives to the officials.
Sarang informed IANS that he reviewed the preparations related to cleaning, leveling, lighting, and security at the Chhath Ghats, emphasizing the government's dedication to making this year’s celebration more organized than ever.
"The state administration has directed officials, including district authorities, to prepare the Chhath Ghats for the devotees. This festival allows individuals from all walks of life to offer prayers to the Sun," Sarang remarked.
In Bhopal, devotees engage in Chhath Puja at various ghats along the Upper Lake and other sites such as Sheetal Das ki Bagiya to perform rituals for the Sun god.
Arrangements for the festival include the creation of multiple temporary and permanent ghats to accommodate the large influx of devotees who come to pay homage, particularly to the setting and rising Sun.
Public amenities will also be in place, including lighting, drinking water, and cleanliness at the ghats. Special trains will operate during the festival season to manage the surge in passenger traffic.
According to the Hindu calendar, Chhath Puja is commemorated on the sixth day of the Kartik month. Also referred to as Surya Shashti, this bathing festival involves a four-day period of abstinence and ritual purification.
Chhath Puja is celebrated as a tribute to the Sun god and symbolizes gratitude to nature, purity, and harmony with the environment.
