Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday, 6 June 2026, announced that the state will develop six major industrial corridors over the next five years, spanning connectivity routes from Malwa to Bundelkhand and from Nimar to Vindhya. The announcement came as Yadav addressed the inaugural session of the India-Latin America and Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2026 in Indore, where he invited trade representatives from Latin American and Caribbean nations to invest, manufacture, and innovate in the state.

Key Announcements at the Indore Forum

Chief Minister Yadav formally inaugurated the forum by lighting the ceremonial lamp and launching a dedicated digital platform and website for the forum via remote control. He also released a special magazine titled The Business Tycoons, focused on trade relations with Latin American and Caribbean regions. The event is designed to foster deeper economic partnerships across continents.

Yadav positioned Madhya Pradesh as a rapidly emerging global investment and export hub, citing stable and transparent policies, a skilled workforce, and a strong law-and-order environment as key differentiators for investors.

Infrastructure and Investment Pitch

The Chief Minister highlighted a ready-to-use land bank of over 1.25 lakh acres, road networks exceeding five lakh kilometres, and advanced rail and air connectivity as pillars of the state's logistics advantage. He said the state is making significant strides across sectors including information technology, electronics, renewable energy, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles, defence, and technology.

The six planned industrial corridors are expected to significantly improve intra-state connectivity and reduce logistics costs, making Madhya Pradesh more competitive as a manufacturing destination.

Latin America Trade Figures

In the fiscal year 2025-26, Madhya Pradesh's exports to Latin American and Caribbean countries reached ₹3,835 crore, marking a 19% increase from the previous year, with pharmaceuticals leading the surge. Engineering goods, plastic products, agro-based items, and manufacturing have emerged as key export pillars, with growing trade ties to Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia.

This comes amid a broader national push to diversify India's export geography beyond traditional Western markets, and Madhya Pradesh appears to be positioning itself at the forefront of that strategic pivot.

Cultural Diplomacy and Historical Context

Yadav drew cultural parallels between India and Latin America, noting shared values around festival exuberance, music, familial bonds, and reverence for nature — likening the latter to the Latin American concept of Pachamama. He recalled Indore's historical role as a commercial hub along ancient trade routes and paid tribute to Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar for her contributions to the Malwa region.

The Chief Minister framed the state's ambitions within Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, saying Madhya Pradesh is advancing from local to global and becoming an integral part of the global value chain. The forum is expected to lay the groundwork for long-term bilateral partnerships that extend well beyond the current fiscal year.
