Bhopal, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Police announced on Wednesday that they have successfully confiscated illegal drugs estimated at around Rs 22 crore during two synchronized operations in the districts of Rajgarh and Neemuch, as part of their ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, smuggling, and unlawful cultivation.

In the Neemuch district, a tip-off received by the Jat police station led to the discovery of extensive illicit opium farming that was allegedly hidden among cotton crops in Luhariya Jat village, according to police officials. The authorities confirmed the tip-off through technical monitoring and drone surveillance prior to executing a raid.

During this operation, the officers uprooted and seized 11,600 green opium plants weighing 9.76 quintals (976 kg). The value of the confiscated crop has been estimated at approximately Rs 9.76 lakh. A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulting in the arrest of one individual connected to the cultivation.

Neemuch is part of Madhya Pradesh’s traditional opium-producing zone along with nearby Mandsaur and Ratlam districts, which have seen consistent actions against both the diversion of licensed cultivation and outright illegal poppy farming. The utilization of drones in the operation highlights the sophisticated surveillance techniques being employed to uncover hidden cultivation within farming areas.

In Rajgarh district, two distinct operations executed by the Machalpur police station led to a significant seizure of MD drugs, commonly known as MDMA (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), a synthetic psychoactive substance frequently linked to recreational use.

Acting on precise intelligence, the police initially apprehended an individual near Mana village. During questioning, he reportedly revealed information about additional stocks stored at his home in Arnia village. A follow-up search of the residence resulted in the recovery of 10.160 kg of MD drugs concealed in a carton found in the kitchen, valued at around Rs 10 crore.

Following further leads, another suspect was detained, who guided the police to a mustard field where an additional 11.350 kg of MD drugs was discovered in a green carton allegedly concealed there.

The cumulative seizure in Rajgarh amounted to 21.510 kg of MD drugs, with an estimated street value of around Rs 21 crore.

Authorities emphasized that the police will not tolerate any form of drug trade and reiterated their dedication to combatting substance abuse and dismantling trafficking networks.

In recent months, Madhya Pradesh has experienced a surge in synthetic drug cases, particularly in western districts bordering Rajasthan, where alleged MDMA production units and smuggling routes have been targeted in various enforcement operations.
