Bhopal, July 29 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar expressed his discontent on Tuesday regarding the lack of responses to certain inquiries made by legislators during the House proceedings.
The Assembly Speaker emphasized that direct responses to all questions raised in the House should be given without delay.
He indicated that the practice of stating that 'information is being gathered' should be discontinued.
Speaker Tomar's comments surfaced on the second day of the Monsoon session when Congress MLA Bala Bachchan highlighted that thirteen answers pertaining to the Chief Minister's office were absent.
Bachchan pointed out during the Question Hour that the written replies to sixteen questions posed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav contained the same response.
"If the Ministers are unable to provide answers, that may be understandable. However, these sixteen questions pertain to departments overseen by the Chief Minister. It's time for the Chief Minister to address these questions," Bachchan asserted.
Bachchan, who previously served as the State's Home Minister during the Kamal Nath-led Congress government (2018-2020) and also oversaw the State's Health Department, questioned, "If MLAs cannot receive answers to their inquiries, where should they turn? I urge the House to create an alternative solution for this issue."
In response to Bachchan's concerns, Speaker Tomar acknowledged the objection raised by the Congress MLA.
"I have noted this situation. Instructions on this matter have been issued previously. Yet, even today, some written responses indicate that 'information is being gathered'," he remarked.
The Speaker further stated, "The Chief Minister is present here. A direct response should be provided."
On Tuesday, the House also lauded the Army for 'Operation Mahadev', which resulted in the elimination of three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The Speaker announced that tributes will be paid on the anniversaries of former Chief Ministers and Speakers by displaying their portraits within the Assembly premises.
