Bhopal, Aug 19 (NationPress) In a significant advancement towards bolstering India's electronics and semiconductor aspirations, Madhya Pradesh is poised to establish a cutting-edge Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) with an investment of ₹371 crore, dedicated to enhancing research and development in the field.
The Government of India has granted preliminary approval for the initiative, which will receive joint funding from both the central and state governments.
Madhya Pradesh will invest ₹225 crore, while ₹146 crore will be allocated from the central budget, as announced by Kailash Vijayvargiya, the urban development minister, on Tuesday following the cabinet's decision.
This EMC is anticipated to be a transformative move for science and technology in the area, creating a specialized platform for innovation, testing, and product development.
Officials indicate that the cluster will feature advanced facilities, including testing and calibration laboratories, CAD/CAM design centers, tool rooms, and EMI/EMC facilities, enabling engineering graduates and aspiring scientists to partake in pioneering research.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a strong advocate for the state’s semiconductor and electronics policy, highlighted that the cluster will help bridge the divide between academic institutions and the industry.
“While we have numerous engineering colleges, they often lack the necessary infrastructure and mentorship to guide talent towards impactful innovation. This cluster will provide our young scientists the chance to engage in real-world R&D projects,” stated Vijayvargiya.
Previously, at the Global Investors Summit 2025, the chief minister mentioned that the EMC will be part of a wider initiative under the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2025, which aims to attract ₹2,700 crore in investments over five years and create over 14,000 jobs.
This policy includes capital investment subsidies, concessional land, and power tariff support to motivate companies to establish their operations in the state.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during the summit, remarked that Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a crucial player in India's electronics manufacturing landscape.
With two EMCs already sanctioned in Bhopal and Jabalpur, and over 85 companies engaged in the sector, the state is set to become a hub for both domestic and export-oriented electronics production.
The new cluster is expected not only to bolster India's technological prowess but also to empower the next generation of innovators with the necessary tools, mentorship, and infrastructure to guide the country’s digital future.
