Mumbai, April 16 (NationPress) In relation to the tragic deaths of two individuals suspected to have overdosed on drugs at a live concert in Mumbai, the Vanrai Police Station has apprehended yet another suspect, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to seven, according to officials.

The latest suspect is reportedly associated with a broader network involved in the distribution of illegal substances. Authorities are actively searching for the primary suspect, believed to be the mastermind overseeing the distribution of drugs at large events, including concerts and parties.

This individual was taken into custody late last night and is set to appear in court shortly. Investigators have indicated that new information is surfacing as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two students who allegedly ingested drugs during a music event held at the NESCO Centre in Goregaon.

The ongoing investigation has uncovered that drug use was not restricted to before the concert but persisted throughout the live performance. Police have traced the transportation of narcotics from Kalyan to Mumbai via couriers, including porters, who facilitated the distribution among students.

According to officials, a shipment of MDMA, commonly referred to as yellow pills, ecstasy, or Molly, was delivered just a day prior to the concert on April 10.

Moreover, the police have identified two previously arrested individuals, Anand Patel and Pratik Pandey, as significant players in what is being described as a major drug supply chain operating in Mumbai. The two are known to have collaborated in drug-related activities for several years.

Investigators have revealed that Patel was responsible for supplying MDMA before the concert, while Pandey managed its distribution among students. Additionally, another accused, Vinod Jain, is allegedly complicit, as he was aware that attendees were bringing drugs into the venue but permitted their entry regardless.

The deceased students reportedly purchased four MDMA pills for a total of Rs 6,400, according to officials. The investigation also suggests that drugs were delivered to Pandey at his hostel located in the Charni Road area, from where he disseminated them within his social circle.

Police reports indicate that Pandey, a first-year MBA student, had easy access to fellow students, enabling him to distribute narcotics discreetly. He has been residing in a hostel in Mumbai, although both he and Patel hail from Kalyan.

Officials stated that Patel had previously provided drugs to the same group on multiple occasions. Some students had allegedly attended events in locations such as Bandra Kurla Complex in October 2025, where drug use was also reported.

The police further indicated that Pandey provided the four MDMA pills to the two deceased individuals in exchange for Rs 6,400, distributing the remaining pills to other group members.

A female student, currently receiving treatment, informed the police that she had consumed a yellow MDMA pill during the concert. She recounted that, after taking the substance, everyone was dancing, but she has no recollection of the events that followed.

Multiple police teams are actively investigating the case, striving to uncover the larger network involved in the supply and distribution of drugs linked to this incident.
