Mumbai, April 16 (NationPress) In relation to the tragic deaths of two individuals suspected to be due to drug overdoses at a live concert in Mumbai, the NESCO Centre issued a statement on Thursday, extending its condolences and reiterating its dedication to safety and collaboration with relevant authorities.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have passed away, and we earnestly wish for the swift recovery of the individual receiving treatment,” stated NESCO in its announcement.

The management of the venue underscored that the safety and welfare of all attendees is its utmost priority. “We are fully cooperating with the investigative authorities and are providing all necessary support to ensure a thorough and prompt inquiry,” the statement continued.

NESCO clarified that it has always adhered to all applicable laws, regulatory standards, and established protocols concerning events held at its location.

“Sufficient arrangements, including vital safety and security measures, were implemented for the event in accordance with these standards,” it emphasized.

Reaffirming its strict position against illicit activities, NESCO declared that it has a zero-tolerance policy for the possession, use, or distribution of narcotics within its facilities.

“All attendees are bound by clearly defined entry requirements, event regulations, and on-site protocols, which explicitly forbid such behavior and place accountability for compliance on individuals,” the announcement noted.

The management strongly refuted any claims of negligence.

“We want to clarify unequivocally that there has been no lapse or negligence on the part of NESCO or its staff regarding this incident. Our employees, Mr. Sunny Vinod Jain and Mr. Balakrishnan Balaram, have fulfilled their duties following established protocols and without any misconduct. We are confident that the ongoing investigation will confirm this,” it added.

“Given that the matter is still under investigation, we will refrain from additional comments at this time. We remain dedicated to cooperating with the authorities and ensuring that all events held at our venue adhere to the highest safety and compliance standards,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, the Vanrai Police Station reported the arrest of another suspect on Thursday, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to seven, as per officials.

The latest arrest involves an individual allegedly associated with a broader syndicate involved in narcotics distribution. Authorities are actively pursuing the main suspect, who is believed to be the central figure orchestrating the drug distribution at large-scale events such as concerts and parties.

The accused was apprehended late at night and is expected to be presented in court. Investigators indicated that new details are surfacing as they probe the deaths of the two students who reportedly consumed drugs during a music concert at the NESCO Centre in Goregaon.

The ongoing investigation has disclosed that drug use was not restricted to before the event but also persisted during the live concert. Police have discovered that narcotics were transported from Kalyan to Mumbai via couriers, including porters, who facilitated distribution among students attending the event.

Officials reported that a shipment of MDMA, commonly referred to as “yellow pills,” ecstasy, or Molly, was supplied just a day prior to the event, on April 10.

Additionally, police have identified two arrested suspects, Anand Patel and Pratik Pandey, as significant players in what they have described as a substantial drug supply network operating in Mumbai. Both individuals are known to each other and have reportedly been engaged in such activities for several years.
