Mumbai/Ranchi, April 27 (NationPress) In a significant operation, the Vikhroli police in Mumbai detained 13 individuals from Bangladesh who were in possession of counterfeit Aadhaar cards linked to addresses in Sahibganj district, Jharkhand, as reported by officials on Sunday.

The identities of these suspects have been communicated to both the Jharkhand Police and central investigative bodies.

These intruders were reportedly functioning as hawkers within Mumbai and were taken into custody following an inquiry.

Concerns were raised by former Mumbai MP and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who disseminated information and images of the arrested individuals on social media, expressing alarm over the situation. He accused the border regions of Jharkhand of transforming into “base camps” for Bangladeshi infiltrators.

The apprehended individuals have been named as Ziaul Sheikh, Ayub Sheikh, Manaurul Sheikh, Saim Sheikh, Naeem Sheikh, Samoun Sheikh, Rafikul Sheikh, Zahir Sheikh, Naseema Bibi, Moinuddin Sheikh, Bariul Sheikh, Haleem Sheikh, and Kasud Sheikh.

Police investigations indicated that each person carried Aadhaar cards containing false information, indicating Sahibganj as their registered residence. A notable point of suspicion was that many of the Aadhaar cards indicated January 1 as the date of birth. Upon questioning, they confessed to being nationals of Bangladesh.

Somaiya expressed his grave concerns via social media platform X, labeling the use of fraudulent documents as a menace to India's internal security. He urged for a comprehensive investigation and stringent action against the parties involved.

“The Sahibganj-Jharkhand connection requires immediate attention. Jharkhand is evolving into a hub for illegal infiltration,” he posted.

According to police sources, an in-depth investigation is currently in progress. Authorities are striving to uncover those behind the fabrication of the fake Aadhaar cards along with the networks that assist the infiltrators in both Jharkhand and Mumbai.

The issue of Bangladeshi infiltration in Jharkhand was a contentious topic during the previous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, particularly highlighted by the BJP.

Several petitions have also been submitted in the Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court, demanding investigations into illegal infiltration in Jharkhand.
