New Delhi, Nov 3 (NationPress) A 22-year-old individual was shot and wounded in the Geeta Colony area of Delhi on Monday, as authorities believe the motive may be a financial disagreement, according to officials.

The police received a report from Dr. Hedgewar Hospital at approximately 10:10 p.m. regarding the admission of a man named Aditya, the son of Subhash and a resident of Geeta Colony, who had been injured during a confrontation. His uncle, Murari Sharma, transported him to the hospital.

Subsequent to this, officials from the Geeta Colony police station informed the on-duty staff that the victim had sustained a gunshot injury. Consequently, the Station House Officer (SHO) and other police personnel arrived at the scene, where they discovered bloodstains near an ATM, as reported by the police.

A senior police official stated, "Initial inquiries indicated that Aditya had been at the location with his wife, Bhumi, to enjoy 'momo', when he was shot in the back."

The police confirmed the preservation of the crime scene, and the SHO, along with other officers, later visited Dr. Hedgewar Hospital to check on Aditya's condition. Medical examinations revealed a gunshot wound to his back, with the bullet lodged in his spine.

During preliminary questioning, the victim's wife disclosed that her husband had a criminal history and had received threats earlier that day from three to four acquaintances regarding a monetary issue.

The officer remarked, "She mentioned that her husband's associates had asked for the return of their money earlier that Monday afternoon."

According to police records, Aditya has a criminal background, having been previously arrested in connection with a robbery case registered at the Preet Vihar police station (FIR No. 242/25) in June 2025, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

"At first glance, it appears that this incident arose from a financial conflict involving the injured and his acquaintances," the officer added.

Police stated that although Aditya is conscious, he has yet to reveal the identities of those involved in the shooting. The case is being treated as an attempted murder.

A team from the Geeta Colony police station has been assigned to identify and locate the suspects. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is currently under review, and forensic teams have examined the crime scene.
