Mumbai, March 28 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident that has shocked residents, an unnamed man was viciously attacked and killed in Mumbai's Dharavi locality. His lifeless body was discovered on a footpath adjacent to the Sion-Bandra Link Road. The local police have lodged a murder case against unknown individuals and have initiated a thorough investigation.

Initially thought to be an accidental death, further insights from the post-mortem report and evidence gathered at the scene have confirmed that this is indeed a homicide. This has prompted a more intense investigation, with police working diligently to uncover the identities of both the victim and the assailants.

The Dharavi Police reported that the deceased, estimated to be between 50 and 55 years old, was found gravely injured and unconscious on the footpath along the Sion-Bandra Link Road, from Kalinagar Junction to Dharavi T-Junction.

Upon receiving alerts about the incident, a police patrol swiftly arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of an ambulance service, transported the victim to Sion Hospital. Unfortunately, medical staff pronounced him dead shortly thereafter. The lack of identification on the victim has complicated the ongoing investigation.

Initially, an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was filed; however, the post-mortem findings significantly shifted the investigative trajectory. Medical examiners determined that the victim succumbed to a severe impact to the head caused by a heavy object, ruling out any accident. The injuries—particularly those on the head, forehead, and near the ears—indicate a premeditated and brutal assault.

During the official crime scene documentation, police unearthed a bloodied stone, which is suspected to be the weapon used in the attack. Investigators are convinced that the assailant assaulted the victim's head multiple times with this object, resulting in fatal injuries. The evidence has been forwarded for forensic examination.

Authorities noted that the victim sustained significant trauma to the head and facial area, including deep lacerations and swollen eyes, which strongly suggest a violent attack. The absence of personal identification has made it challenging for officials to ascertain the victim's identity.

To advance the investigation, police are collaborating with adjacent police stations and reviewing reports of missing persons. They are exploring various possibilities, such as personal disputes or robbery. With no witnesses stepping forward, investigators are heavily analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity to extract leads and piece together the events leading to this tragic incident.
