New Delhi, April 25 (NationPress) In a profound and collective display of sorrow and condemnation, members of the Muslim community nationwide observed a somber protest during Friday prayers, urging swift action against terrorism following the tragic terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 fatalities and numerous injuries.
Mosques in cities including Hyderabad, Delhi, Bhopal, Varanasi, and Lucknow experienced a surge of solidarity as Muslim worshippers donned black bands on their arms as a symbol of mourning and resistance against terrorism during the Juma Namaz (Friday prayers).
In Hyderabad, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi distributed black bands among attendees before leading the prayers at a mosque in Shastripuram. He denounced the attack and conveyed his support to the victims' families.
In the national capital, AIMIM’s Delhi state president Dr. Shoaib Jamai also organized a peaceful protest during Friday prayers.
“The events in Pahalgam are deeply tragic for our nation, and curses be upon the terrorists who executed this dreadful act,” Jamaai remarked while wearing a black band in protest.
In Bhopal, congregants arrived at local mosques adorned with black bands. “We are offering prayers while wearing black bands in protest against the Pahalgam attack,” stated a youth from the community.
Another participant added, “If the government fails to hold a merciless nation like Pakistan accountable, then open the borders; we, Hindus and Muslims together, will teach such a country a lesson. We refrain from even mentioning its name.”
In Varanasi, thousands gathered at the Jama Masjid in Nadesar, where prayers were held for the souls of those lost in the attack. Likewise, in Lucknow, protests occurred at the Asifi Masjid in the historic Imambara, where attendees voiced slogans against terrorism and Pakistan.
Worshippers across all these cities also prayed for peace and harmony in the nation. “We prayed for the souls of those who perished in Kashmir and for tranquility to reign in our country,” shared one attendee.
