Mysuru, April 7 (NationPress) Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi stated on Monday that Muslims in the nation are living in harmony and happiness because of the reforms initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This statement was made during a large gathering after he launched the BJP’s statewide Janakrosh Yatra in Mysuru, which aims to protest against the Karnataka government’s policies on price increases.

Joshi emphasized that Muslims throughout India are experiencing peace and contentment due to Prime Minister Modi’s reforms. He noted that even in Jammu and Kashmir, Muslims are now living peacefully following the abrogation of Article 370 — a fact that the Congress party finds intolerable.

He clarified that the Waqf Amendment Act is designed to protect dargahs and mosques. In fact, Section 40 has been annulled to prevent the illegal acquisition of Waqf assets, promote transparency in administration, and provide benefits to underprivileged Muslims.

Joshi asserted that irrespective of who governs, even if Congress’ ancestors return, the Waqf reforms enacted in Parliament must still be implemented.

He mentioned that the Muslim community now perceives Congress as a party of dishonesty.

He recalled Congress leaders previously warning of violence if Triple Talaq was abolished or Article 370 was revoked. He accused them of spreading misinformation about the Waqf Amendment Act, misleading Muslims by falsely asserting that it targets mosques and dargahs.

Criticizing the Congress-led government in Karnataka, he expressed strong disapproval, asserting that the state government, which is imposing fees even for birth and death certificates, represents a corrupt and exploitative regime that is robbing the populace.

He stated: “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who claims to have presented the budget 16 times, has now made history by raising prices on 48 essential items.”

He listed increases in the prices of milk, alcohol, petrol-diesel, electricity charges, property registration and stamp duties, water taxes, garbage disposal fees, bus and metro fares, land records fees, and hospital bills, criticizing the government for escalating costs across the board, as stated by the Union Minister.

Joshi alleged that the Congress government, which assumed power with promises, is now extracting ₹70,000 to ₹75,000 crore from the public through raised taxes and fees.

He pointed out that while the government claims it is spending ₹50,000 crore on guarantees, in reality, it is failing to properly implement these initiatives. Instead, it is collecting double that amount from citizens through various means.
