New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded sharply on Friday to Rahul Gandhi, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP), accusing him of disseminating false information regarding the recently introduced rural employment initiative. The BJP urged the Congress leader to familiarize himself with the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission - Gramin (VB-G RAM G).
Leading the BJP's counteroffensive against Rahul Gandhi, following the Bill's passage in Parliament, Amit Malviya, head of the party's Information Technology Cell, took to social media platform X to state, "VB-G RAM-G serves as a proposed solution aimed at rectifying... structural deficiencies while maintaining the fundamental goal of rural empowerment."
He shared a comprehensive breakdown of the necessity to replace MGNREGA with the new Bill.
Malviya clarified that VB-G RAM G is not intended to eliminate social safety nets; rather, it seeks to modernize them. By integrating employment, skills development, infrastructure, and accountability measures, it marks a progressive shift beyond MGNREGA.
"Instead of propagating misinformation, Rahul Gandhi should inform himself about Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G," he emphasized.
The BJP leader underscored that MGNREGA was launched with the noble purpose of securing employment for rural populations.
"While the intentions were commendable, the initiative has faced persistent issues over time, including corruption, delayed disbursements, subpar asset quality, and limited long-term economic benefits," he stated.
"In contrast to MGNREGA, which frequently emphasizes short-term wage distribution over sustainable outcomes, VB-G RAM G prioritizes the creation of productive, village-focused assets. Each project under this framework is intended to directly foster local economic development—whether it involves irrigation, storage, rural infrastructure, skill development centers, or agricultural facilities—ensuring lasting advantages rather than momentary relief," he explained.
Malviya further highlighted that the VB-G RAM G Bill focuses on skill-oriented employment rather than repetitive unskilled work.
"Rural youth will receive training alongside their work, enhancing their employability and facilitating their transition to higher-value livelihoods, moving beyond reliance on daily wages," he remarked.
"This model also implements rigorous accountability and transparency protocols, including real-time digital tracking, geo-tagging of assets, direct benefit transfers, and community audits. These measures significantly curtail leakages and political exploitation that have plagued MGNREGA," Malviya stated.
"Most importantly, the VB-G RAM G Bill alters the philosophy from an entitlement-based dependency to an empowerment-driven developmental approach. Instead of confining rural families to ongoing wage labor, it strives to cultivate self-sufficient villages capable of generating sustainable incomes," the BJP IT Cell Chief added.
Previously, Rahul Gandhi criticized the VB-G RAM-G Bill on X, claiming, "VB–G RAM G is not a 'revamp' of MGNREGA. It dismantles the rights-based, demand-driven guarantee and transforms it into a rationed scheme overseen from Delhi. This bill is inherently 'anti-state' and 'anti-village.'"
