Amaravati, March 7 (NationPress) The brother of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, K. Naga Babu, officially filed his nomination on Friday for the Legislative Council elections, representing the Jana Sena Party.

Naga Babu stands among the five candidates selected by the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming elections to the Council from the MLAs quota, set to take place on March 10.

Support for Naga Babu’s nomination includes backing from Information Technology and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju, and the state President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Palla Srinivasa Rao.

During the submission of his nomination papers to the returning officer, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar and several Jana Sena Party MLAs were also present.

On Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan, the President of Jana Sena, officially announced Naga Babu as the party's candidate for the MLC elections.

Naga Babu, whose full name is Nagendra Babu, is not only Pawan Kalyan's elder brother but also the younger brother of megastar Chiranjeevi. He is also known for his work as an actor and film producer. As the party's General Secretary, he played a significant role in campaigning during last year’s elections.

Once elected as an MLC, Naga Babu is expected to join the Cabinet, as announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The elections for five seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from the MLAs’ quota are set for March 10.

The NDA, led by the TDP, is well-positioned to dominate the polls, as the TDP and its coalition partners, the Jana Sena and the BJP, collectively hold 164 seats in the 175-member Assembly.

Currently, the TDP comprises 135 members, while the Jana Sena and BJP hold 21 and 8 seats, respectively. It is anticipated that the TDP will allocate two MLC seats to the Jana Sena and one to the BJP.

In a recent decision regarding by-elections for Rajya Sabha seats, CM Naidu, who also leads the TDP, announced two candidates while reserving the third seat for the BJP, thus ensuring representation for the Jana Sena in his Cabinet.

With this, Naga Babu is set to become the fourth minister from the Jana Sena, joining the ranks of Pawan Kalyan, Manohar, and Kandula Durgesh.
