Kohima, Sep 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, officially launched the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ on Wednesday, advocating for unified efforts towards achieving universal health coverage to ensure that no one gets left behind on the path to a healthier and more prosperous future.

During the launch, the Chief Minister emphasized that this campaign in Nagaland will prioritize health and nutrition for women, adolescent girls, and children. The main goals of the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ include enhancing early disease detection and treatment connections, providing essential health services at the grassroots level, and motivating families to adopt healthier lifestyles. The Chief Minister announced that health camps will be organized statewide, offering services such as screening for non-communicable diseases, reproductive and child health care, nutrition and menstrual hygiene education, tuberculosis screening and counseling, and mental health assistance.

The state-level launch of this national initiative coincided with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the Chief Minister presenting the campaign as aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of Independence.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this campaign aims to bolster women’s health and nutrition, empower families, and cultivate healthier communities. In Nagaland, the initiative will be implemented across 523 health units, including 12 district hospitals.

The Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), in collaboration with private hospitals and clinics, will be instrumental in providing specialized services throughout the campaign.

Recognizing the pivotal role of women’s health and empowerment in shaping families and communities, the Chief Minister acknowledged the vital contributions of doctors, nurses, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and community volunteers, whose dedication underpins the program.

The Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, remarked that the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA)’ is a significant initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare services for women and children across the nation through improved access, quality care, and heightened awareness.

With over one lakh health camps being organized nationwide, it stands as the largest health outreach of its kind. By focusing on preventive healthcare and nutrition, the initiative seeks to decrease maternal and child mortality and contribute to the broader national vision of fostering resilient families under Viksit Bharat 2047.

As part of the program, Chief Minister Rio also conducted a virtual launch of the Integrated Public Health Laboratory at the District Hospital Dimapur and District Hospital Mon.

Additionally, he inaugurated newly acquired ambulances, hearse vans, and rapid response team vehicles to enhance health service delivery within the state. The two-week campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, will conclude on Gandhi Jayanti.
