Gandhinagar, Sep 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday on September 17 will herald the commencement of the nationwide 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) initiative. Gujarat will host the state-level inauguration at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, attended by Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The Gujarat Health Minister, Rushikesh Patel, announced that the campaign will take place in Gujarat from September 17 to October 2, featuring over 1.41 lakh health camps throughout the state.
Included in this initiative are 10,849 specialist camps and 1,30,188 screening camps, delivering free health services to women, children, and the broader community.
Specialists from fields such as cardiology, oncology, nephrology, and more will participate, ensuring holistic health care.
Essential services provided will encompass antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, adolescent health focusing on anemia and menstrual hygiene, screening and treatment for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, as well as detection for oral, cervical, and breast cancers, sickle cell and tuberculosis screenings, mental health consultations, and eye, ENT, and dental examinations.
The program will also raise awareness about obesity, organ and body donation, Ayush services, geriatric care, and connections with the Ayushman Bharat and Vay Vandana schemes.
Furthermore, the state government has declared that during this two-week period, all diagnostic tests—including X-rays, sonography, MRI, CT scans, laboratory, and radiological tests—will be provided at no cost in government health facilities.
Follow-up tests prescribed by doctors at these camps will also remain free during the specified timeframe.
As part of the launch day events, a massive blood donation drive will occur at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and across 600 locations statewide, supporting the campaign's mission for preventive care and community engagement.
This initiative is collaboratively led by the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Women and Child Development Department, with district-level mega camps set to occur in places like Rajkot, in addition to statewide medical outreach.
Minister Patel encouraged citizens, particularly women and families, to fully utilize the services available during this fortnight, aimed not just at treating conditions but also at preventing illnesses and enhancing public health awareness.
