Tapi (Gujarat), Sep 18 (NationPress) In line with the national initiative ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’, the Health Department of the Tapi district in Gujarat conducted health camps on Thursday in the villages of Mayapur, Chhindia, and Pipalwada. The program saw enthusiastic participation from local women, many of whom received health screenings and timely treatments – all free of charge.
Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, coinciding with the eighth edition of Poshan Maah, this campaign aspires to be the largest health mobilization effort for women and children in India. The response from the Tapi district has already shown promising outcomes.
Dr. Anil Vasava, the Chief District Health Officer (CDHO) of Tapi, stated to IANS: "This initiative will be ongoing until October 2. Women aged 30 and above will be screened for various health issues like diabetes, oral and cervical cancer, tuberculosis, and other non-communicable diseases. All services at government hospitals are completely free. Early detection is crucial and will significantly enhance long-term health for women."
Local participants expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the program.
Vidhyaben Gamit mentioned: "I came for a memory screening, but I discovered I have diabetes during the checkup. I would have remained unaware otherwise. I am grateful to the Gujarat government and PM Modi for this life-saving program."
Another attendee, Pravinaben Gamit, noted: "I received a comprehensive examination through this initiative. It’s comforting to know such healthcare is accessible even in remote areas. Thank you, PM Modi."
Jointly spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ aims to provide preventive, promotive, and curative health services to women, adolescent girls, and children throughout India.
From September 17 to October 2, over one lakh health camps are set to occur nationwide, including daily camps at government health facilities. These camps will offer screenings for non-communicable diseases, cancers, anemia, tuberculosis, maternal health services, as well as nutrition counselling and menstrual hygiene education.
The campaign also focuses on promoting mental health, lifestyle education, and wellness activities based on AYUSH principles, such as yoga. Beneficiaries will be linked to digital health services, including Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) and PM-JAY for future healthcare benefits.
To ensure extensive community involvement, the campaign mobilizes ASHA and Anganwadi workers, ANMs, self-help groups, Panchayati Raj institutions, and youth volunteers under the MY Bharat initiative.
Specialist services in gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and dentistry are being offered through medical colleges, district hospitals, AIIMS, ESIC, and CGHS centers, with contributions from private hospitals as well.
According to officials, this drive aligns with PM Modi’s vision of a healthy, fit, and developed India by 2047, marking a crucial step toward bolstering grassroots healthcare across the nation.
