Nanded (Maharashtra), April 4 (NationPress) Eight women tragically lost their lives on Friday when a tractor trolley plunged into a well in Asegaon village, located in Nanded district. Out of the 11 women who were on board, three were successfully rescued.

The state administration has declared a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for the bereaved families.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow through a post on X, stating: "I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the Nanded accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the deceased. I wish a quick recovery for the injured. The local authorities are providing necessary assistance. An ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF will be granted to the next of kin of each victim, while the injured will receive Rs 50,000."

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked: "It is tragic that several women lost their lives in this morning's accident in Asegaon, Nanded district, when a tractor trolley carrying 11 women laborers fell into a well. I extend my heartfelt tributes to them. These women hailed from Gunjgaon in Hingoli district and were en route to agricultural work.

"The rescue operations to retrieve the women from the well are being conducted at a rapid pace, with the entire system, including the Resident Deputy Collector and Additional Superintendent of Police, present at the scene. Three women have been safely rescued. We are coordinating with both Hingoli and Nanded administrations. The families of the deceased will receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund."

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the situation as extremely tragic. He stated: "We honor the memory of the women who perished in this accident. The mishap occurred while one woman from Gunjgaon in Hingoli district was headed for agricultural work. Following the receipt of information about the incident, the administration successfully rescued three women from the well. It is confirmed that some women lost their lives in this unfortunate event. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased. We stand in solidarity with the families affected by this tragedy and pray for their strength during this difficult time."
