Chandigarh, Aug 13 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated on Wednesday that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan transcends being just a government scheme; it is a people’s movement that necessitates the active involvement of youth, women, children, educational institutions, voluntary organizations, saints, and social groups.
“By liberating the youth from the clutches of drugs, we can propel India towards becoming a developed nation,” he remarked while speaking at a state-level event in Panchkula, commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on August 15, 2020, aiming to guide the nation towards a healthy, prosperous, and bright future while uniting citizens against drug abuse.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to making Haryana drug-free. A recent Cyclothon saw participation from lakhs of youth who pledged to remain drug-free.
This campaign has evolved into a widespread mass movement, engaging youth, women, children, educational institutions, and voluntary organizations, bolstered by support from saints and Khap panchayats.
According to Saini, under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, India is making rapid strides, emerging as the world’s fourth-largest economy, demonstrating its strategic strength through ‘Operation Sindoor’, and achieving significant milestones in sports.
The Prime Minister has envisioned making India a developed nation by 2047, with Haryana playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal through remarkable developmental progress, he added.
Saini highlighted that to maintain and enhance national growth, it is crucial to keep the youth away from drugs and involve them in constructive activities.
Over the past five years, the campaign has raised awareness and motivated society to break free from addiction, he noted.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is implementing stringent laws against drug trafficking, ensuring severe penalties for offenders.
To enhance enforcement, Haryana has set up an inter-state secretariat in Panchkula, collaborating with seven other states to exchange intelligence and coordinate anti-drug initiatives.
However, he remarked that the eradication of drugs from society cannot solely rely on legislation. Public awareness, community participation, and particularly youth involvement are vital, stated Saini.
