Chandigarh, Aug 8 (NationPress) The government of Haryana has announced plans to hold a state-level event in Panchkula on August 13 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), as part of a detailed 31-day initiative.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will oversee the proceedings.
A collective vow against drug misuse will also be taken by students from schools and colleges at the district level.
This information was conveyed during a meeting led by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi to evaluate the NMBA initiated in the state.
Rastogi emphasized that the campaign's goal is to create a widespread movement against drug addiction, encouraging community involvement through pledges, educational initiatives, and active participation.
The Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes and Antyodaya (SEWA) Department is the lead agency coordinating the campaign at both the state and district levels.
Launched on August 1, the initiative incorporates several departments and organizations, such as the Narcotics Control Bureau, Youth Affairs, Health, Education, Women and Child Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and Urban Local Bodies, to raise awareness at the grassroots level, especially in rural sectors.
The Additional Chief Secretary of the SEWA Department, G. Anupama, stated that numerous public engagement activities are being conducted as part of the campaign.
These activities include pledge ceremonies, rallies, awareness seminars, 'nukkad nataks' (street plays), flash mobs, walkathons, yoga sessions, and creative contests such as essay writing, slogan crafting, poster design, and rangoli making.
The campaign aims to mobilize students in educational institutions, youth volunteers, government staff, and the community to actively participate and contribute to Haryana's battle against drug addiction.
Individuals can take the online pledge through the official NMBA portal, with QR codes displayed prominently in public areas like police stations, educational institutions, bus terminals, and places of worship.
Offline participation is facilitated through printed pledge forms distributed during school assemblies, awareness rallies, and other community events.
