Haryana CM Nayab Saini eyes world-class knowledge economy hub at GJUST Hisar
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday, 12 July declared that the state government is committed to transforming Haryana into a world-class knowledge economy hub, outlining a three-pronged reform strategy centred on 'Re-design, Re-imagine and Re-invest'. Saini made the remarks while addressing a function at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) in Hisar.
Projects Inaugurated and Foundation Stones Laid
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of infrastructure projects worth ₹7.58 crore at the university. The package included the foundation stone of a girls' hostel to be built at a cost of ₹6 crore, the inauguration of a Nursing Department building constructed at ₹1.40 crore to bolster healthcare and medical education, and the unveiling of the Khejarli Mahabalidan Smriti Shilp and Mata Amrita Devi Circle built at a cost of ₹18 lakh.
Saini also announced that the newly inaugurated Nursing Block would be named after Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, honouring the legacy of the former Haryana chief minister.
NEP Implementation and Academic Excellence
Saini credited the momentum to the National Education Policy (NEP), implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the broader goal of making India a global knowledge superpower. He noted that GJUST has set a benchmark in NEP implementation and was recognised by the state government with the NEP Implementation Excellence Award 2025 (Gold Category).
Comprehensive NEP-aligned reforms, he said, have been rolled out across state universities and their affiliated colleges. The Chief Minister urged these institutions to evolve into centres of research and innovation — acting as a bridge between local industries and global technologies — to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Environmental Conservation and Cultural Roots
Saini also invoked the teachings of Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj and the sacrifice of Mata Amrita Devi, urging the gathering to carry forward Prime Minister Modi's tree-planting campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. He argued that environmental stewardship and cultural grounding must go hand in hand with technological advancement.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the true objective of higher education, in keeping with the philosophy of Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj, is not merely to confer degrees but to build a society that is ethical, sensitive, and technologically competent while remaining rooted in its cultural heritage.
Broader Vision for Haryana's Education Sector
This visit is part of a wider state push to align Haryana's higher education institutions with national and global standards. With infrastructure investments, policy reforms, and institutional recognition converging at GJUST, Hisar is being positioned as a node in Haryana's emerging knowledge corridor. How quickly these investments translate into research output and industry linkages will determine whether the state's ambitions move beyond ceremony.
