New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the inaugural Governing Council Meeting of the National Cadet Corps Alumni Association (NCCAA) at South Block, New Delhi.
In his address, the Defence Minister characterized the NCC as a “platform that embodies an ideal for the youth of our nation.”
He referred to former NCC cadets as formidable pillars of India, who actively contribute to the nation's growth across various sectors.
“We must leverage the wisdom of our alumni to hasten the progress towards national development,” he stated, expressing optimism that the NCCAA would infuse fresh energy and direction into the NCC.
He encouraged the NCC to disseminate the values and principles of its cadets to a broader audience, embodying the ethos of NCC Plus.
“The NCC imbues its members with values that ought to reach those who haven’t had the opportunity to join,” the Defence Minister emphasized.
He also pointed out that the NCCAA can play a vital role in nation-building initiatives through programs like ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’, and other community development and social service projects that can impact a significant portion of the population.
Applauding the NCC for its valuable role in youth development, he remarked, “In the true essence of its motto ‘Unity & Discipline’, the NCC has consistently been a champion of national cohesion and development. It has enabled countless youth, including those from remote regions, to become disciplined and driven.”
NCCAA serves as a premier association for NCC alumni, dedicated to advancing the mission of the world’s largest uniformed youth organization by uniting former and current cadets and promoting their engagement in national development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the inaugural member of this association, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stands as the second alumni.
The meeting saw the participation of Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary (Department of Education) Sanjay Kumar, Secretary (Department of Youth Affairs) Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence Dipti Mohil Chawla, DGNCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, Joint Secretary (Training) Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, CEO LD Remedial World Bala Saraswathy Nair, and Secretary, NCCAA Col Gagan Sharma.
