Ahmedabad, June 20 (NationPress) In a vibrant lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2025, more than 1,000 NCC cadets alongside Armed Forces members convened at the NCC Group Headquarters in Ahmedabad to convey a strong message of solidarity, wellness, and environmental awareness.
The gathering, which occurred just before the global festivities on June 21, resonated with this year's theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health". Participants performed various asanas collectively, illustrating the connection between human health and the well-being of our planet.
IANS interviewed several NCC cadets.
One cadet remarked, “Yoga Day is celebrated globally, not just in India. It has positive effects on both our health and the environment. It serves as a crucial reminder to nurture ourselves and our planet.”
Another cadet said, “Best wishes to everyone on Yoga Day! We NCC cadets have gathered here with pride to honor this day. However, we must remember that yoga extends beyond a single day. It is a way of life that fortifies both body and mind. Let’s commit to incorporating yoga into our daily routines.”
This year signifies the 11th International Day of Yoga since its commencement in 2015. The initiative was initially proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and embraced by the United Nations, with June 21—coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere—selected to symbolize the equilibrium and harmony that yoga fosters in life.
A press release from the Government of India highlights that the theme underscores yoga’s significance in promoting holistic health and environmental balance. Over the years, this event has evolved into a worldwide movement, linking millions of individuals across different continents in the shared quest for well-being.
The principal national event is scheduled for June 21 from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Krishna district, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the Chief Guest.
Simultaneously, celebrations will take place nationwide. In New Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will lead a yoga session along the banks of the Yamuna River, with the capital hosting events at 11 designated sites to commemorate the occasion.
