Bangkok, June 21 (NationPress) Numerous nations in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, marked the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Saturday, focusing on the theme of Yoga for unity and sustainability.
In Thailand, over 4000 participants from various backgrounds came together to celebrate the 11th IDY at the historic grounds of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
“More than 4000 participants engaged in the Yoga Protocol collectively, embodying the spirit of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. This celebration marks a decade of IDY, with over 30 yoga events held nationwide in the last 100 days,” stated the Indian Embassy in Bangkok on X.
During his speech, Indian Ambassador to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, emphasized the significance of yoga in enhancing physical, mental, and environmental well-being, which resonates with the global appeal for unity and sustainability.
Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, along with Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, also attended the event. In Cambodia, the 11th IDY was celebrated at the renowned Botum Vatey Monastery in Phnom Penh.
The Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh expressed gratitude towards the Cambodian Government for their support in organizing the event, stating, “Our thanks to the Ministries of Tourism, Culture and Fine Arts, Education, Youth and Sport, and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration. Special thanks to Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, for attending the event.”
