Mumbai, Dec 19 (NationPress) The Nationalist Congress Party has vehemently criticized the dissemination of a fabricated and AI-generated video, claiming that it has been intentionally propagated to harm the reputation of the party and its leadership.
The party issued a statement indicating that the video, which has gained traction among political adversaries on various media and social platforms just before the second phase of the Nagar Parishad and Nagar Panchayat elections scheduled for Saturday, is a shameless and petty effort to mislead the public via technological deception and misinformation.
“Upon recognizing the video, the NCP promptly filed a police report. Following that, a forensic review was requested. The results from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have now definitively validated that the video is fake and AI-generated. The forensic evidence will be made publicly available to ensure transparency and clarify the situation beyond any doubt,” the release stated.
This incident underscores the increasing exploitation of technology by those who lack both political credibility and public backing.
The party emphasized that generating artificial outrage through false content cannot replace genuine political discourse or electoral strength.
“NCP sends a strong message to the perpetrators of this act: if you want to challenge us, do it within the democratic framework. Confront us during elections. Seek the people's mandate. Resorting to falsehoods, digital forgery, and misinformation will only diminish your own credibility,” the statement added.
Previously, the NCP has renewed efforts to be included in the MahaYuti alliance to contest elections for 29 municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The state party head, Sunil Tatkare, is anticipated to meet with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to advocate for NCP to receive its fair share in the seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP and Shiv Sena in the BMC and other civic bodies.
