Patna, Oct 14 (NationPress) Several prominent figures within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) took to social media on Tuesday, announcing that the seat-sharing dilemma among partner parties in Bihar has been settled amicably. In a display of solidarity ahead of the Assembly elections, each leader shared the same message.
The leaders indicated that discussions regarding which party will contest which seat are nearing completion and are moving forward positively.
"The matter of seat allocation among NDA parties has been resolved through constructive discussions. The negotiations regarding which party will run for which seat are also in their final stages with fruitful talks," the message stated.
"Under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji and Nitish Kumar ji, all NDA parties are fully equipped and united," the post continued.
Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national head Chirag Paswan were among those who shared this unified message on X.
However, leaders from the Janata Dal (United) and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) did not post similar updates.
This announcement comes amidst concerns regarding internal discord over the seat-sharing formula for the Bihar Assembly elections.
According to an agreement made public on Sunday, both the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, while Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) has received 29 seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and Upendra Kushwaha's RLM have each been allocated six seats.
Both Kushwaha and Manjhi expressed discontent with the arrangement, as HAM sought 40 seats and RLM aimed for 24. Nonetheless, they have reiterated their dedication to remaining part of the NDA and competing in the elections together.
In a recent post on X, Kushwaha expressed regret to his supporters, recognizing the disappointment surrounding the limited number of seats, stating, "I request your forgiveness. The number of seats could not meet your expectations. I realize this decision might disappoint many, including colleagues eager to represent our party."
"I trust that you all understand the constraints faced by both me and the party. Some circumstances affecting decisions are visible, while others are not. I humbly request you to allow your frustration to fade; in time, you will see whether the decision was appropriate or not. Time will reveal all," he added.
Meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi shared with IANS, "During the parliamentary elections, we were promised two Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat, but we received only one. We stated that a minimum of eight seats was necessary for recognition as a registered party. However, one cannot guarantee that securing eight seats would lead to victory. Thus, we requested at least 15 seats, but were allocated only six. Despite this, we remain content."
