Patna, June 24 (NationPress) Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and prominent BJP figure Tar Kishore Prasad announced on Tuesday that the NDA coalition will contest the forthcoming state Assembly elections under the guidance of Nitish Kumar.

“We will engage in the Bihar elections under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Our efforts are aligned with his vision, and we will persist in this endeavor upon reclaiming power,” Prasad conveyed to IANS.

In a pointed critique of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has declared his candidacy for a 13th term as the party's National President, Prasad labeled the RJD as a “family enterprise.”

“The RJD operates as a family party. Lalu Yadav intends to keep his position as national president indefinitely. The diligent leaders within RJD are aware of how Lalu exploited power to amass wealth, leading Bihar into a bleak era of misgovernance during his 15-year tenure,” he remarked.

Prasad also raised concerns about the Yadav family's internal strife affecting their political choices.

Lalu Prasad Yadav is striving tirelessly to position Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Minister. However, the family is fragmented, with both sons living apart, a conflict involving the daughter-in-law, and the elder son embroiled in a romantic entanglement. The party's direction is being compromised to maintain the family's grip on it,” he alleged.

Referring to Tej Pratap Yadav’s recent request for enhanced security due to perceived threats, Prasad remarked: “Given the internal family disputes, his apprehension is understandable. He appears to be politically exiled within his own home. I trust the government will heed his plea.”

Prasad dismissed Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor as a serious political threat.

“He poses no challenge to us. Figures like Prashant Kishor surface only during elections, employ various strategies to seize power, and subsequently vanish. The BJP does not regard him as a threat, not in the slightest,” he commented, indicating he does not perceive Kishor as a vote splitter either.

Addressing the visit of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, to Bihar, Prasad stated that it comes as no surprise with elections approaching.

“Every party aims to concentrate on Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi’s ambition is power, while our emphasis remains on development and transforming Bihar into a progressive state,” he asserted.

On the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Prasad reiterated India's position as a peace-promoting nation.

“Global peace is vital for humanity. India has consistently championed peace. Yet, should we be challenged, we are prepared to respond decisively. Nonetheless, I firmly advocate for global peace,” he concluded.

Point of View

This announcement signals a strategic move for the NDA as it aims to consolidate power in Bihar. The focus on Nitish Kumar's leadership reflects a calculated effort to leverage his experience and authority. The criticisms directed at the RJD highlight the ongoing challenges of dynastic politics in the region. As we approach the elections, the political landscape in Bihar is set for a compelling shift, with both the NDA and RJD poised for a vigorous contest.
